Who we are....
Team Black Belt's Principal Instructor, Mike Turbitt, is a 6th Dan Black Belt in the Wado Ryu style of Karate. He has been a Black Belt for over 30 years, starting in Karate when he was 16 years old. He runs the school in conjunction with his partner, Helen.
What we do....
Our aim is to build a child's confidence and self-esteem through achievement in a fun and friendly atmosphere. We do this by practising karate & self-defence activities, mixing in games and movements that develop co-ordination, balance, quick reactions and early karate skills. (To see video clips of some of our classes, please visit the Little Dragons or Karate Kids pages under the Classes tab above)
When we do it....
The classes listed below run Mondays to Thursdays
5.15pm to 5.50pm - (LD)Little Dragon Beginners (5yrs-6.5yrs)
6.00pm to 6.40pm - (KK1)Karate Kids Beginners (6.5yrs-8.5yrs)
6.50pm to 7.30pm - (KK2)Karate Kids Beginners & Intermediates (8.5yrs-10.5yrs)
Ages indicated are a rough guide to the age of children we would place in those classes. Unfortunately we don't currently have classes that are suitable for older child beginners around age 11-14yrs. If you have a child of that age, you may be able to find classes via this page HERE
How much it costs....
To help you decide whether you would like to join Team Black Belt, we offer a 3 week 'trial period' for £10 (which covers all 3 weeks).
If you then decide to join us, there is no minimum period of membership, and you can give notice to quit at any time. Fees are payable monthly, in advance, by direct debit, (which is for 1 years training, divided into 12 equal payments), with £10 per month discount for 2nd+ family members.
>>> 1 student, training once a week is £37 per calendar month.
>>> 2 students from the same family, training once a week each is discounted to £64 per calendar month.
(These fees are current until March 2020).
What to do if you're interested in joining us....
We have New Student intakes for children 3 times a year, just after Solihull school half terms in February, May & October. Do contact us as soon as you think your child might be interested, as we have waiting lists of several months for some classes.
At the very latest, bookings must be made BEFORE the half term you wish to join at.
We will then be in touch with you regarding availability and coming along for the first of your trial lessons, and if you like it, you just keep coming! Please note, we only offer trial lessons at these times, and in classes with availability, in order to ensure that the student comes along at a time when we are tailoring the lessons to give beginners the best possible experience; and, to avoid disappointment, that we do actually have a place to offer them if they want to continue coming.
(Please note, if your child has a friend who would also like to join, we MUST be contacted directly by that child's parents, as unfortunately, we can't accept a booking from you on their behalf. However, if you mention the friendship in your message, we will try to offer them places in the same class).
